22/8/2010 - A fine day for Wisemans Ferry...

When you get the itch after not having a run for a while, Wisemans Ferry can be a good jaunt.

So off I went with the cold wind in my face negotiating my way to Wisemans Ferry. My first stop was the pub for a wee break, then off to the ferry.

I have travelled across on the ferry many times, but this was my first time by motorbike. Negotiating the wet metal ramps took some care but was achieved without any problems, even on the old XS.

Then off on the other side in the company of an array of other motorcycles. Well they were just in front of me as we came off the ferry, but were off in the distance ahead within minutes. The modern bikes must handle much better than my old XS, or I have just become so slow in my old age.

It is a great winding run along the river towards Gosford. I must remember to change out of sunglasses on this stretch in future as there are a lot of dark shaded sections caused by the trees. In some places this made it difficult to see where the road went. At the end of this section I found a great cafe on Peats Ridge Road where I had a big open hamburger.

Then it was back to Sydney via Woy Woy. My intention was a run down the old highway but took a few wrong turns and ended up in Woy Woy. So as the weather was starting to turn I found the Freeway and headed for home.

Map of the run.
